Movie club presents a very special Curry night!

The Phillip Island Movie Club is excited to announce a script reading of a film script that is close to finalisation for a feature film “Balwyn Calling”, with some very special guest appearances.

The reading will be on Sunday May 15 at the Penguin Parade Theatre. The show will start at 2pm but doors will be open at 1.30pm.

“Balwyn Calling” is a full- length film that chronicles the life of a suburban family Christmas 1985 to Christmas 1986. The script has been written by Stephen Curry and Andrew Curry. They say the film may or may not be based on actual events from their childhood.

A well-known actor and comedian, Stephen, along with his brothers Bernard and Andrew will be part of this very special script reading.

Bernard, Andrew and Nick Farnell will also be performing an acoustic trio band (which may include The Skyhooks song “Hey Boy, That’s Balwyn Calling”) before the show begins.
The script reading is quite the family (and friends) affair.

Parts will be read by Stephen Curry (actor and comedian), Bernard Curry (actor, composer, writer), Andrew Curry (actor, producer and musician), Nick Farnell (actor, producer and drummer friend of the family), Margaret Powning (sister), Freddie Currie (Andrew’s son), Fox Curry (Bernard’s son), Ingrid Forelli (lead in Matilda, who will replace Bernard’s daughter Ella Curry) and Jane Hall (actor and comedian).

“Most people will be aware of the amazing talents we have here in this group, if not get on to Google,” said Movie Club secretary Margaret Byrne.

“This is a first for all of us and considering the professionalism and talents of the participants I think we are in for a fun filled rollicking ride.”

Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for non-members. The ticket will include a drink at the end of the show and the actors will stay to mingle after the Q&A.

“We will sell tickets at the RSL on Friday May 6 between 3-4pm if we have any left, as they are selling fast,” Margaret said.

“Tickets were available to PIMC members only, last week, but are now available to other members of the community.

“You can call us on 043 453 1147 or 0428 693 882 for tickets or information.”

Please note there will be no tickets sold on the day at the Penguin Parade.
