Evacuation in Thompson Avenue
Staff and customers evacuated from pharmacy and Medical Centre due a strong gas smell in the buildings.
UPDATE: 12noon, May 12
A spokesperson for the CFA said three CFA units responded to reports of a gas leak inside a pharmacy on Thompson Avenue in Cowes at around 9:26am. Breathing apparatus crews were required.
Victoria Police were on the scene. The smell appearing to be coming from food storage unit. The incident was deemed safe at 10:06am, with customers and staff able to enter the building again.
Staff and customers were evacuated from Terry White Chemmart and the Phillip Island Medical Centre in Thompson Avenue around 9.30am this morning due a strong gas smell in the buildings.
The source of the odour has not yet been discovered.
Emergency services and police attended and investigations are on going.
