Rhyll Park,
Rhyll

This Australia Day prepare to reflect, respect and celebrate as the Phillip Island and District Historical Society invites you to join them for a delightful family day at Rhyll Park.

Packed with live music, entertaining activities for the kids, and a complimentary sausage sizzle, this event promises a perfect blend of fun and reflection for everyone.

Mark your calendars for Friday, January 26, when the festivities kick off at 11am.

Rhyll Park will transform into a hub of excitement and camaraderie, courtesy of the Historical Society's dedication to creating a memorable experience for all attendees.

President Doug Waugh, at the helm of the Historical Society, shares the theme of the day: "Reflect, Respect, Celebrate." These three pillars embody the essence of the society's operations.

"We take pride in reflecting on and sharing our rich history, respecting the legacy left by those who came before us, and, of course, celebrating the fact that we are fortunate enough to call one of the world's most beautiful locations our home," Doug elaborates.

Doug also acknowledges the assistance by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council.

The day promises to be a treat for families, history enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a unique way to celebrate Australia Day.

Live music will set the tone for a festive atmosphere, creating the perfect backdrop for an array of fun activities designed to entertain the younger members of the community.

And let's not forget the free sausage sizzle, a quintessential part of any Australian celebration! The enticing aroma of sizzling sausages is sure to draw a crowd, adding to the festive spirit of the day.

Additionally, the Historical Society extends a warm invitation to all attendees to explore the recently inaugurated historical museum, centrally located in Cowes at Berninneit.

This newly established museum is a treasure trove of our shared heritage, showcasing a captivating collection of artifacts and digital stories that vividly narrate the evolution of our community.

Visitors will have the chance to immerse themselves in the island's history, with the museum's latest exhibits. It's a unique opportunity to delve into the rich tapestry of our past and gain a deeper understanding of the cultural significance that has shaped our present.

The museum serves as a testament to the Historical Society's commitment to preserving and sharing the diverse history that makes our community so vibrant.

Make sure to carve out time during the festivities to visit this cultural gem and enrich your Australia Day experience with a journey through time.

So, gather your family and friends, pack a picnic blanket, and head to Rhyll Park for a day of history, fun, and celebration.

The Historical Society invites you to be a part of this unique event, where reflection, respect, and celebration merge and attendees will carry with them not only the joy of the festivities but also a deeper appreciation for the historical roots that bind us together as a community.
