Building on the success of the Island Men's Song Gang, a new choir is starting next month.

The Song Gang Choir is open to men and women and will meet on every second Tuesday at the Westernport Hotel.

The first meeting is Tuesday July 29 from 7.30pm - 9pm, with entry $15 per person.

Founder of Song Gang, Simon Moule said he decided to start the new choir after receiving a lot of interest from women wanting a similar opportunity to the Men's Song Gang.

"The new choir will be different. It will occasionally include instruments, be performance-oriented, and come with a small weekly fee.

"This helps support the new group and also contributes to sustaining the Men's Song Gang, which offers benefits that go well beyond just the music."

A Facebook account (Song Gang Choir) has been set up as well as an Instagram account (Song_Gang_Choir) and Simon said he will announce any updates via social media.
