Farewell Shirley – thank you!
After 15 years, crossing supervisor Shirley Fleisner is retiring. Students from Newhaven Primary came to wish her a fond farewell.

Newhaven Primary School farewelled crossing supervisor Shirley Fleisner after 15 years of dedicated service.

The students were sad to hear that Shirley was retiring as they love greeting her each morning and afternoon as they cross the busy Phillip Island Road.

Shirley has a special bond with the students who use her crossing.

She knows each one and has enjoyed getting to know the students and their interests over the years.

“There have been some characters over her 15-year journey, but the current group of crossing users hold a special place in her heart,” said principal Sharyne Munday.

“That doesn’t mean that the occasional wheelie isn’t dropped after crossing.

“On behalf of the Newhaven Primary School community, Shirley and Paul, enjoy your retirement and know that we have loved the way you have supported our school and our kids with love and dedication.”
