Fireworks. Do you love them or hate them? Would you like more of them, or prefer them to run later in the evening? Or perhaps you think it’s time we looked at an eco-friendlier way to see in the new year.

Bass Coast Shire Council is seeking community feedback on having fireworks as part of Council’s Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Council has committed to deliver fireworks as part of the Cowes Christmas Carols and New Year’s Eve celebrations for the next three years (until 2024) and wants to evaluate the impact and benefits of these events.

In addition to community and visitor feedback, the council said it will also be seeking further information on the environmental and economic impacts of fireworks and the events held around these displays.

“We aim to balance the needs of residents, business owners, visitors and the environment while creating a vibrant destination for all to enjoy,” a council spokesperson said.

Feedback this year will be open until January 31 at engage.basscoast.vic.gov.au/eoycelebrations
