Last Friday a 19-year old man was rescued from the surf at Forrest Caves.
Police from Cowes said they attended the incident at 4pm, along with members of the Water Police and ambulance.
The man was swimming with friends when he was swept out by a rip.
Police said he was “400 metres from shore in a large rip with two metre swells rolling through, unable to return to shore”.
He was rescued by the Water Police and taken to San Remo, where he was treated by paramedics.
The incident is a timely reminder to look for rips, swim at safe beaches and understand your limits in the water.
