French Island koalas assessed

Seven orphaned koala joeys are now being cared for by the Phillip Island Nature Park following a recent veterinary assessment of French Island's koalas, while 105 koalas found to be in extremely poor condition have been euthanised.

Vet assessments of French Island's koalas has resulted in 62 healthy females implanted with contraceptive devices and released back into their habitat, alongside 112 healthy males, 105 koalas with extremely poor body condition and unlikely to survive humanely euthanised, while seven orphaned joeys were sent to Phillip Island Nature Park for rehabilitation.
