2019 Football grand final -3 Island premiership teams -Seniors, Thirds & Fourth

The Phillip Island Football Netball Club made history on the weekend, taking out three footy premierships at the West Gippsland Football League Grand Finals 2019.
In a nail biting finish which had the Bulldogs huge contingent of supporters holding their breath on Saturday, the island’s senior side held onto a narrow lead in the last five minutes of the match, with opponents Cora Lyn storming home after trailing all day, to get to within four points as the clock ticked down in the dying moments of the game.
The island players, throwing everything they had to counter the momentum building for Cora Lyn, held on to their lead, taking out the WGFNL seniors’ premiership in magnificent style as club officials and supporters flooded on to the ground.
It was the third consecutive premiership for elated senior coach Beau Vernon, who has now taken the island Bulldogs to back-to-back victories, following on from a premiership in 2017 as coach of the Leongatha side.
The seniors’ premiership victory on Saturday at Garfield followed comfortable grand final wins for Phillip Island’s Under 16 and Under 18 sides  earlier in the day.
