On Wednesday September 11, the Phillip Island Movie Club presents "Close" at Berninneit, starting at 7pm.
The French film released in 2022 is a drama directed by Lukas Dhont and is a co-production between Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
The film follows two teenage boys whose seemingly unbreakable friendship is torn apart when they move to secondary school and their schoolmates notice their intimacy and ask them about it.
Lukas Dhont's second film is an emotionally transformative and unforgettable portrait of the intersection of friendship and love, identity and independence, and heartbreak and healing. The performances of the two young men in the lead roles are particularly impressive and the story will leave you wanting to continue the discussion.
"Close" premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2022 and won the Grand Prix. The Grand Prix is the second-most prestigious prize of the festival after the Palme d'Or.
The film will start at 7pm, runs for 104 minutes and is rated M. Please prebook your seat prior to the night as bookings are already high. Booking details were sent to members a few weeks ago or call or drop in to Berninneit and book.
The next screening is on October 23, when the movie club presents "Touch".
