Under 18s give it their all
Scores: Phillip Island: 1.4.10, 1.6.12, 1.7.13, 1.7.13. Inverloch-Kongwak: 1.2.8, 1.4.10, 3.6.24, 5.6.36
A spine-tingling address was the highlight before the game for the Under 18s, as coach Huther prepped his boys for their attack on the premiership against Inverloch.
Having lowered their colours to the Sea Eagles twice already this season, the challenge was there for the Bulldogs.
With the wind moving more cross-ground, the Bulldogs started best and were on the board early through Jack Johnston.
With Finn Cashman leading from the middle, Noah Muller dominating and Beau Davies and Leo Savona standing firm, an early lead presented itself.
A late first quarter goal from the Inverloch boys brought the game back to relatively even at quarter time with the Bulldogs up by two.
The second turned into a slugfest with the wind really picking up, and the ball spending most of its time near or out of bounds.
Only two points each in a tough defensive 18 minutes saw the Bulldogs enter half time maintaining a two-point lead.
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, that was to be the high point of the game.
The third resumed in a tight tussle until a couple of late goals to the Sea Eagles began to break the game open.
Zac Walker continued to work closely with his captain Cashman, but the Sea Eagles defence remained strong.
The trend was to continue in the last with a couple more goals to the opposition, with Inverloch running out victors 36-13.
A fantastic effort for the boys and the coaching group, with a lot to like about 2024 chances.
