During National Diabetes Week (July 14-21), Bass Coast Health's (BCH) Diabetes Education team joined the national focus on raising awareness of technology in managing diabetes.
BCH's Diabetes Educators can help people with diabetes use glucose monitoring devices that link to their smartphones and the BCH team to enable easier monitoring and control of glucose levels.
International recruits join nursing team
Bass Coast Health (BCH) has welcomed the first registered nurses from India and the United Kingdom, as part of a global search for more nurses.
More nurses are on the way, coming from New Zealand, Qatar, Nigeria, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
BCH CEO Jan Child said all health services needed staff, particularly nurses, to meet demand for healthcare.
Former hospital board chair recognised
Bass Coast Health (BCH) has paid tribute to a longstanding volunteer at Wonthaggi Hospital by unveiling its latest honour board.
The board honours the late Stan Grabham, Chair of the Wonthaggi Hospital Board of Directors for 21 years from 1952-1973. His daughter-in-law Shirley Grabham, grandson Arthur Grabham and his partner Angie Almond recently gathered at the hospital for the unveiling, followed by an afternoon tea.
Every resident valued at Griffiths Point Lodge
Living at Bass Coast Health s (BCH) residential aged care centre, Griffiths Point Lodge at San Remo, run by Bass Coast Health (BCH) has recently received a $1 million make over.
Renovations included new floors and nurse call bell system, painting of walls and some new bathrooms.
Tours can be arranged by contacting Nurse Unit Manager Clare Stinton on 5678 5311. BCH is also recruited aged care workers for the facility.
Volunteers acknowledged
Bass Coast Health (BCH) recognised the service and commitment of its amazing volunteers at the annual volunteers forum at Cape Paterson Surf Life Saving Club.
Volunteers help BCH in so many ways, offering a concierge service and transport driving, gardening, visiting our aged care residents, fundraising, Community Advisory Committee and more.
Twenty-eight volunteers were recognised for service between five and 30 years.
