A fundraiser has been set up to help former Phillip Islanders Bill and Anthi Playne, who lost their home and all their belongings in the recent bushfires at Pomonal.

“The loss of our home and place of healing has been a devastating shock,” Bill and Anthi said.

“It was initially saved by the amazing efforts of fire crews on Tuesday and was unfortunately claimed in the wee hours of Wednesday morning due to the changing conditions making it undefendable.”

A Chuffed fundraising page has been set up to help the couple as they try and rebuild their lives and home.

Before moving to Pomonal, both worked at Newhaven College, Anthi as a counsellor while Bill taught environmental and outdoor education for many years. Bill also worked as a ranger at the Penguin Parade and for Parks Victoria.

The couple run an outdoor equipment company 50 Days, which specialises in helping people get “adventure ready”. www.50days.com.au
