The Phillip Island Historical Society received $14,960 under the latest round of the state government Local History Grants.

The money will be used for digital storytelling for the new museum, which will be in the new Cowes Cultural Centre.

“Passionate volunteers play a vital role in preserving our local history and we’re proud to back groups like the Phillip Island Historical Society in continuing this important work,” said Member for Bass, Jordan Crugnale, when the funding was announced.

The project was one of 40 which shared in $350,000 in funding.

The Local History Grants program is run by Public Record Office Victoria to support community and history organisations to preserve, record and share Victoria’s local history.

The full list of recipients is available at prov.vic.gov.au.
