The Phillip Island Rotary Club hosted four couples from the USA who are in Victoria for the International Rotary Convention. The visitors loved visiting the Penguin Parade.

A wave of tourists is set to descend on Phillip Island and San Remo as thousands of Rotarians arrive in Victoria for the International Rotary Convention in Melbourne from May 27 – 31.

Hundreds of international visitors, mainly from the United States and Canada, but also from other parts of the world including Finland, Japan, Switzerland, Israel and India are set to visit Phillip Island and San Remo.

On the weekend, Phillip Island Rotary Club hosted four couples visiting from the USA.

The visitors were thrilled to be taken to various sites around the island, and were lucky enough to be in town for the Rotary gala event, Puttin’ on the Ritz.

The dinner was a great opportunity for the visiting Rotarians to meet and connect with members of the local club and community.

Other Rotary members attending the convention are expected to embark on several tours bound for Philip Island, giving the island a chance to showcase its natural beauty, local hospitality, and culture to a global audience, while providing a much-needed boost to the local economy.

Conventions of this size have a huge impact on the visitor economy, with four in every 10 international delegates (38 per cent) visiting regional Victoria before and or after the conference they attend.

More than 14,000 Rotary members and participants from over 120 countries will gather in Melbourne from May 27 – 31 for the membership service organisation’s annual convention.
