Phillip Island musician Steve Cousins is off to the Formula 1 Grand Prix, performing at a Live and Local stage representing the island.

Phillip Island is one of five Victorian regions being showcased at this year’s event.

The five fan precincts have been designed to offer unique experiences that showcase each destination, including live performances.

Steve Cousins, a local singer-songwriter known for his energetic on-stage presence, guitar solos and unassuming vocals, will represent Phillip Island.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Matt Corby and Tash Sultana, Steve is well-known for his unapologetically honest approach to song writing and performing. He will perform a one-hour acoustic solo set on Friday, April 8 at 5pm.

“I’m excited to be a part of this event and to be bringing some local original music to the party,” Steve said.

“It’s been so great to be a part of the Phillip Island community and to see it flourish over the years. I feel that days like this can inspire a new standard of events for the island and it makes me excited for the future.”

The regional showcases have been put together in collaboration with Visit Victoria, with local producers also being invited to talk to fans and media about the area.

The best-selling local cookbook, “Over the Bridge” is part of the Phillip Island presentation, with two of the featured producers – Jude Mayall from the Outback Chef Wild Food Farm and Roger Morris from Phillip Island Strawberries – appearing at the precinct.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation General Manager Marketing and Experience, Arthur Gillion said it was important to capture the spirit of each precinct.

“Thanks to our partnership with Solution Entertainment, we are able to shine a light on some of our state’s best kept secrets.”

‘’The music industry has had it tough over the past two years, and we are delighted to give these Australian artists a platform to perform again and to showcase their talent to our fans across the four-day event.”

The five destinations featured at this year’s Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix are the Grampians, the Great Ocean Road, Melbourne, Phillip Island and the Yarra Valley.

Fans will be able to kick back and relax at the Live and Local stages, where musicians from each region will take centre stage.
