Several times a year volunteers from Phillip Island and San Remo attempt to catch the giant water birds.

Volunteer pelican taggers rely on the public to keep an eye out for the tags. If you see a tag or a metal band take a photo and if possible keep a note of the number on the tag or the colour and upload the details to the Westernport Pelican Study Group Facebook page.
