Islanders head north for championships
Three Phillip Islanders join the 45-strong Victorian team heading to Port Macquarie next month for the Australian Surf Championships.
Three Phillip Islanders join the 45-strong Victorian team heading to Port Macquarie next month for the Australian Surf Championships.
The 18-day event runs from August 4 to 21 and features Shortboard, Longboard, Logger and Bodyboard divisions.
Phillip Island’s Harry de Roth, Arthur McKenzie, Graeme Burgan are heading north.
In the Shortboard competition Harry will compete in the Open Men and Arthur is in the Kahunas Men (O45) and Grand Kahunas Men (050).
In the Longboard category, Graeme is competing in the Legends Men (065).
Sandy Point’s Eva Based will compete in the Shortboard Open Women’s event.
“Congratulations to all Victorians who have been selected as part of the 2023 Victorian State Team,” said Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson.
“This is one of the biggest events on the Australian Surfing Calendar, and we wish all the Victorian State Team the very best for the event.”
