John Fleming remembered

Bass Coast Shire’s Mayor, Cr Michael Whelan paid tribute to former Wonthaggi councillor and Mayor, John Fleming.

On behalf of Bass Coast Shire Council, I would like to acknowledge the recent passing of John Fleming,” Cr Whelan said.

“John was Councillor and Mayor of the Borough of Wonthaggi prior to amalgamation. He also served as one of the three Commissioners for the new Bass Coast Shire, for three years following amalgamation.

“John was with the State Coal Mine for over 20 years, and he gave more than 50 years of service to the CFA and Lions Club of Wonthaggi. John has made an outstanding contribution to Wonthaggi over many years, helping to make the town what it has become.”
