Jonah’s making his mark
Jonah, with his cat Leesha, is designing and selling bookmarks to raise money to help stray cats.

Jonah Angerame is out to save the world … one cat at a time.

The enterprising 10-year-old, who lives on Phillip Island and loves reading, space and science has started a bookmark business to raise money to help stray cats.
He says his dream is to buy a house one day and fill it with cats and he’s hoping to raise money by designing and selling his bookmarks.

His first bookmark collection “Furry Friends” features, not surprisingly, cats and there’s a Halloween-inspired collection on the way.
The budding entrepreneur designs the bookmarks on his computer and then gets them printed at Print It Fast in San Remo.

They’re available for $5.45 through his Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/bookmarkbuddy) but Jonah says he’s building a website, with help from mum, which should be launched soon (www.bookmarkbuddy.com.au) to make it easier for people to buy the bookmarks.

A quick cat chat with Jonah

Why do you love cats so much?
They are just the cutest things ever! And they’re so fluffy too, and can do the cutest things. I can go on forever about cats.

Do you have a cat?
Yes, her name is Leesha and she does many cute things.

What would you like to do to help stray cats?
I’d like to get signs saying: “SAVE US” and put them in locations where there are stray cats, and hope they get adopted. I would also feed them before I leave.

Why did you decide to design bookmarks to raise money?
I love reading too. I also want to get a house and hopefully save at least a dozen cats!

What is the inspiration behind the bookmark designs?
Sometimes my inspiration comes from things that I love, like cats and animals and sometimes I like to find inspiration in fun things. I will have lots of different designs and collections coming out soon.
