U14 Blue

The PIFNC Under 14 Blues attend Leongatha for a much-anticipated clash between two serious contenders for this year's flag.

The Leongatha Velodrome provided the home team with the advantage, but the weather held off and a clash was in store.

A competitive first quarter was underway and a great smother from Hayden Power and a Max Jess goal, had the Doggies off to a quick start.

Another Doggie’s goal with great work from 50 gamer, Sammy O'Garey had the Doggies up and about.

Good work by Jesse Moschetti and Caleb Cantwell, pushed to slow the Leongatha progress forward.

Heath Bowen was involved in a big clash, resulting in a knee injury which slowed the Doggies' push forward.

Leongatha piled on the next five goals and took the lead into the break.

The second quarter started with a big push.

Jem Hennekam and Luka Fawaz tried their best, taking it to the taller Leongatha.

A good pickup and goal from Joe Kelsy and the Doggies were still in it.

Al Szymanski, Maxy Jess and Sammy O did their best in the centre, but Leongatha pushed hard.

A good rev up from coach Cashman, had the Doggies motivated for a better quarter starting the third.

Heater was moved up forward and paid dividends early.

A good left foot snap and a great grab by Duke Lawrence, held Leongatha scoreless in the third.

Angus McLure and Riley Herbert pushed hard and returned the ball into the Doggies forward line, resulting in three good goals.

Flynn Dengerink was moved to centre half to provide a target up forward with Archie Williams taking over full forward.

Starting the fourth, the Doggies were down by 13 points.

A strong contest started with both teams having a good crack.

The kids did a great job stemming the tide, but Leongatha changed up a gear and took control.

Kai Cashman, Zane Matthews, Sam Fairthorne and Bryce Lawrence all worked hard repelling the Leongatha advances and giving the Doggies some quality chances, but they couldn't stop the charge.

Leongatha by 23 points.
