Kids are buzzing at San Remo

Students in Prep and Grade 1 at San Remo Primary were buzzing with excitement last week.

The students have been studying mini beasts and were treated to a visit from Bron and David from South East Gippsland Bee Keepers.

During the presentation, the students were able to examine bee frames and hives, while learning important facts about the life of bees, including that the busy little creatures only live for six weeks.

The students’ study of mini beasts includes a trip to the Botanical Gardens in Cranbourne where they’ll be looking at an array of mini beasts, including a ranger led tour of bugs in the wetlands.

Principal Karen Bowker said the students had been “going wild” with mini beasts, bringing all sorts of bugs into school.

“It’s been quite amazing, including all the different ways the students are presenting their bugs.”
