The Kinetic Beer and Bubbles fundraiser event on Friday March 17 at the Phillip Island Winery raised close to $19,000 for local charity Free 3D Hands.

Specifically, funds raised will go towards the impressive design and development of Kinetic arms by Free 3D Hands. Their goal is to design and manufacture the equivalent of a $10,000 arm for just $20

in parts to make them accessible to everyone on the planet.

Ocean Reach Brewing’s Kinetic Hazy IPA and the Phillip Island Winery’s Sparkling were flowing all night with 100 per cent of the profits donated to Free 3D Hands.

The night included Kinetic demonstrations, raffles, silent auctions, auctions and of course the Kinetic beer and bubbles.

Many local in-kind sponsors got behind this very worthy cause by generously donating their time, services and items towards the raffles and auctions on the night.

The auctions were conducted by Stephen Harvey from Ray White Phillip Island. Together, attendees raised close to $19,000 just counting the raffles, silent auctions and auctions.

The Free 3D Hands collaboration beer will continue to flow throughout locations in Victoria and New South Wales. It is currently available to purchase at participating local bottle shops, Ocean Reach Brewing’s tasting room in Cowes as well as their online store while stocks last. Visit: shop.oceanreach.beer

Simon Bismire, Co-Owner and Brewer of Ocean Reach Brewing says he encourages any beer lover to continue to get behind this effort to help fund a critical development in assistive technology.

“The work of Free 3D Hands can change the life of children and adults in Australia and around the world; including people affected by conflict and those with congenital limb differences.

“And they are designed and manufactured right here on Phillip Island, which is really awesome,” Simon said.

Free 3D Hands is a not-for-profit organisation charity established by local engineer Mat Bowtell to design and manufacture low-cost assistive devices for free, using 3D printing technology.

“The Kinetic Arm was developed in response to a request from the Pacific Island Orthopaedic Association, to make assistive technology accessible to people in the region,” said Mat.

“We plan to use some of the funds raised from the event to support a hospital in Papua New Guinea to set up a production line to replicate our manufacturing processes.

“By openly sharing our designs, there are now thousands of others all around the world manufacturing our devices and providing them for free. Through collaboration, we can make assistive technology accessible to the 90 per cent of the global population who currently go without.

“We would like to thank everyone involved for their love, kindness, support and generosity,” said Mat.

“The generous contribution from Ocean Reach Brewing, Phillip Island Winery and from anyone who buys the Kinetic Hazy IPA, will directly support this effort.”
