The Phillip Island Under 12 Blue’s team played their last game of the season on their home turf against Kilcunda Bass.

Coach Mick Cleary had some inspiring words for the players before they ran out on the field.

His words were quite clear - “be ready for them, know where your opponent is and never give up.”

Captain Brady Van Steensel fired up the team with some fitting words and led them out under the wet conditions.

The first quarter was tight, and both teams had eyes for the ball.

Not much could split the two teams with only two points scored by the Blues.

During the quarter time huddle coach Mick Cleary reminded his team they need to work really hard and don’t underestimate their opponent as they are out to win their last game of the season.

Second quarter Sam Koole opened up Phillip Island’s account scoring his first goal of the season.

It was again another tight quarter with the Island peppering for more goals but could only earn one goal for all their hard work.

Third quarter Killy Bass came out fighting hard but found it hard to penetrate through Phillip Island’s backline.

It was left up to Ryder Van Steensel who weaved his way through the traffic to kick a ripper goal.

In the last quarter Killy Bass were desperate to get on the board but Balin Riky’s intercept marks thwarted any chances they had of breaking their drought.

Phillip Island Blues finished strong and came away with the win at home 18-0.

The best players on the day awards went  to Balin Riky, Brady Van Steensel, Sam Koole, Ryder Van Steensel, Roy Patterson and Zac Ivey.

With the regular season coming to an end and looking ahead to finals we would like a big shout out to all parent volunteers who chip in and make the season run smoothly.

Big thanks to the coaching staff and team manager Andrea for their commitment and dedication, and the Phillip Island Football Netball Club.
