Leader lauds Liberal candidate

The Liberal candidate for Bass at November's state election, former Bass Coast Shire mayor Rochelle Halstead, has received a glowing endorsement from the Leader of the Opposition, Jess Wilson.

While visiting San Remo and Philip Island on Sunday, Ms Wilson and Cr Halstead met with several small business owners and spent the morning talking with locals.

"Rochelle is one of the most passionate people I know about her own community," the Leader of the Opposition said.

"She's fought for local issues and she's been successful, and I think she is truly a local who is fighting for her own community - I know that's why she'll be successful."

Ms Wilson said she had "very fond memories" of holidaying at Phillip Island as a child.
