Patrols at Woolamai and Smiths Beach will continue until February 21
Patrols at Woolamai and Smiths Beach will continue until February 21, not early February as previously announced.
Life Saving Victoria extended the seven day a week lifeguard and volunteer season due to the busy summer season.
The patrols run from 10am until 6pm.
After February 21, volunteer life savers from the Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club will continue their patrols on weekends only until Easter.
The Jet Ski rescue service will operate on weekends only from this week.
Patrols on the Cowes Foreshore finished on January 26.
With the warm weather over the long weekend, crowds flocked to the beaches, keeping the surf lifesavers busy.
At one point on Sunday, Woolamai Surf Beach was closed due to dangerous conditions.
Everyone going to the beach this summer is encouraged to visit beachsafe.org.au, download the beachsafe app and only swim at a patrolled beach.
