Two separate local events have raised over $10,000 to support communities impacted by this year's bushfires.
A recent BBQ in Cowes by the Phillip Island Fire Brigade raised $1900 to support the CFA members at the Whiteheads Creek-Tarcombe Fire Brigade.
The funds raised will go towards supporting their station extension project, helping them build much-needed facilities including a meeting space, kitchen and toilets.
Phillip Island RSL also contribute $2000 to the Whiteheads Creek-Tarcombe Fire Brigade.
The local community also came together at Cape Woolamai on Sunday February 15 to raise money for people impacted by the Victorian bushfires.
Lindsay Becker of Hectic, one of the coordinators of the event, was thrilled with the turn out.
"It was a great day and we couldn't have asked for much more," he said.
The $6765 raised on the day has been sent to BlazeAid, a volunteer-based organisation that works with families and individuals in rural Australia after natural disasters.
