The Bass Coast Breakers trains each Wednesday at 5pm at the Dalyston oval and President Ella Angarane said any women who love football and are keen to be part of a fun and inclusive club should join them. If you’re a female who loves football and is keen to be part of a fun and inclusive club, then the Bass Coast Breakers want you!

With members that range in age from 16 to 40, the club provides a positive, professional space for women to pursue their football dreams.

Are you a youth girls player keen to continue your football journey or looking for a way to fit footy in around demands of a family or professional life? Or perhaps you’re keen to give footy a try in a safe and supportive environment?

Whichever stage you’re at, the Breakers provides an array of opportunities.

“We have at least 30 players and we’re very flexible,” said President Ella Angarane.

“You don’t have to play every week; we understand people have other commitments and we have some players who are only available on certain dates.”

The club prides itself on its flexible, inclusive culture.

“We want people to feel they can be themselves here,” Ella said. “Once they’re through the door, they have a good time. And we have some amazing leaders within our club, including Kelly O’Neill, who brings a wealth of football knowledge as a former St Kilda AFLW player,” she said, adding the club is powered by dedicated volunteers.

“Chelsea Connell who is the moral compass of the group, does an amazing job of making everyone feel comfortable and included, and my sister Tess is a great leader both on field, and behind the scenes. As a former leader in the Gippsland netball community she has utilised the skills to strengthen the Breakers culture and approach.

“I am however really excited by some of the emerging talent coming through,” Ella said.

"Imogen Bradford and Sunday Brisbane moved up from Phillip Island Youth Girls last year and got better each week. I am really looking forward to seeing what they can do this year.”

The club has weekly training sessions at the Dalyston oval on Wednesdays from 5pm.

The 14-game season starts at the end of April.

“It’s a really welcoming environment and the players support each other,” said Ella. “After training and games, we usually go for a meal together. It’s a great community.”
