Mayors Message

By Cr Clare Le Serve

As we approach the festive season, I wanted to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to each and every one of you. The Christmas season is upon us, and our community has a sleigh-full of festive activities for all ages.

Council, along with a range of local organisations and partners, has been working tirelessly to organise a variety of events that promise to bring laughter, cheer, and a touch of magic to the Bass Coast.

From carolling in the park or by the bay and fireworks, there's something for everyone to enjoy. I encourage you to participate and make the most of these wonderful moments with your friends and family to create everlasting memories.

While Christmas is undoubtedly a time of celebration, we must also recognise that it can be a challenging season for some. Not everyone is surrounded by loved ones, and not everyone has the means to fully embrace the holiday spirit. This is where our strength as a community truly shines.

I urge you to reach out to your neighbours and those around you. A simple "hello" or an invitation for a cuppa can go a long way. Let's ensure that no one feels alone this year. Check in on each other, share stories, and create memories together.

In light of the current cost of living crisis, it's important to acknowledge that not everyone may have the resources for a bountiful Christmas feast or extravagant gifts. Thank you to everyone who has been able to donate non-perishable goods and gifts at our Council Giving Trees and other local organisations. Your generosity will make a world of difference to those in need.

If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please don't hesitate to visit the various local organisations that are here to help. Our community is stronger when we support one another.

Remember, a simple smile can be contagious, and a kind word can brighten someone's day. If you suspect someone may be feeling lonely, make that call and initiate a conversation. Let's spread warmth and kindness like tinsel on a tree and make this season truly special for everyone in the Bass Coast.

Wishing you all a festive, safe and heartwarming holiday season!
