Some of you may remember Council delivered a regular newsletter for many years called Coastell. I am very excited to let you know that it is back. We will be delivering a monthly e-newsletter to whoever was already subscribed with listings of news, events and ways to get involved with Council. If you aren't subscribed, please head on to our website and join up. Otherwise call our friendly customer service team. If computers aren't your thing, you can have a copy printed at our visitor and customer service centres.

We are holding another event on June 20 for information about the Solar Savers program. I'd encourage you to join in on this and learn how you can save money on your electricity bills. There are already more than 8800 solar systems installed on homes and businesses across Bass Coast, saving around $8 million per year combined, and an average annual household saving of around $1,200.

This has also helped offset 53,400 tonnes of CO2.

Head to The Climate Action Portal to find more events: www.thecap.com.au.

We were pleased to host several work experience students from local schools last week. I had the pleasure of meeting budding journalist and lawyer, Amelie who sat down for an interview with me. She has also written a wonderful blog around the upcoming Whale Festival which you can see on our website. I'd like to thank all the schools, educators and staff and families for supporting work experience programs. It gives fantastic insight into different organisations and is a wonderful opportunity for younger people to experience different places as well as for our staff to help mentor younger people into the workforce.

Bass Coast Shire Council will shortly be preparing a "Local Area Traffic Management Plan" for Cape Paterson to understand and better improve the township. Council is seeking feedback about people's experiences of transport and road safety in Cape Paterson. We want to hear from all road users including drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, people using mobility devices and commercial vehicle operators.

To provide your feedback, please visit the Engage.basscoast.vic.gov.au website.

We are absolutely thrilled Berninneit has won a prestigious architectural award. It is a testament to the vision of everyone involved, Council, staff, contractors, community and of course the architects Jackson Clements Burrows for creating a sustainable and functional space for generations to come. I extend our congratulations to everyone involved in this project.

Likewise, we are equally proud that our beloved Rhyll Foreshore Play Space has also been recognised with an architectural award this week for the work delivered by Orchard Design.

These awards really demonstrate our ongoing commitment to listening to and engaging with community about future places and working with people and organisations who are equally committed to sustainability and innovation in creating these spaces.

Thank you to the entire community who gets behind these projects and helps to shape the future of Bass Coast.
