As the birds of Bass Coast begin to sing and we approach October, I'm delighted to share that the Victorian Seniors Festival is returning, bringing a wonderful array of events to celebrate our cherished older residents. This annual festival, now in its 40th year, has become a cornerstone of our community, promoting active ageing and encouraging social participation. 

This year's theme, "Explore. Engage. Evolve.", invites our senior citizens to stay curious and connected by discovering new activities and meeting new people. From October 6 to 13, Victorian Seniors Cardholders can enjoy eight days of free public transport across the state, making it even easier to take part in the festival's exciting lineup.

Here in Bass Coast, we're proud to support local events, and I'm pleased to announce that small grants of $250 are available for Bass Coast-based activities. This is a fantastic opportunity for community groups to bring the festival's spirit to our region, ensuring everyone can join in the fun. Let's come together to celebrate the invaluable contributions of our seniors.

Speaking of celebrations, San Remo will once again host the TIDAL Seafood Festival, and in my opinion, it just gets better every year. The spirit of resilience and pride runs deep in San Remo-from the Bunurong people who first fished these waters to the San Remo Fisherman's Co-op, which has proudly served the community since 1948.

I invite you to join us in celebrating all that makes San Remo so special. This isn't just a festival; it's a tribute to our history, our people, and our connection to the sea. Whether you're enjoying the Strait to Plate Seafood Dinner, capturing the Blessing of the Fleet, or cheering on the Deckies Race, there's something for everyone.

So, bring your family, your friends, and your sense of adventure. Let's come together to honour our past, celebrate our present, and look forward to the future. I can't wait to see you there!
