Bass Coast College was very proud to have some fantastic student representation during the recent Moomba Festival in Melbourne.

As part of the Moomba Festival, the Australian Skateboarding Leagues hosted their Melbourne finals during the eighth annual Moomba Street Championships at Riverside Skate Park.

Following a successful qualifying event on the Saturday, 14-year-old Ted Stapleton tore it up to impress both the crowds and the judges and was one of only eight boys invited to participate in the under 16s division finals the next day.

Nailing some seriously impressive moves and competing with great competition, it was fantastic to see Ted’s skills in this field earning him an honourable fourth place in the final.

A further six students from Bass Coast College – Alex Beale, Dylan and Neva Cleary, Rhiannon Orchard, Noah Robertson and Jeffrey Yu – took part in the amazing and colourful Moomba Parade.

These students marched as part of the Victorian State Youth Brass Band (VSYBB), which is composed of students from across the state and run through the incredible dedication of Skunkworks Community.

The VSYBB is made up of young brass and percussion players who come together to rehearse once a month, make lifelong friendships and produce some high-quality music for gigs which they have more than a hoot performing throughout the year.

Brilliant efforts and contributions Bass Coast College!
