National fairy bread day!
Preps were all ears during a lesson on National Fairy Bread day, whose theme was “Sprinkling Kindness”.

What a surprise for the children of Our Lady Star of the Sea when they arrived at school on Wednesday, November 24 to see the entire staff dressed as fairies and the fairy godmother (Principal Cathy Blackford) welcoming them with her wand to National Fairy Bread Day.

Each class had lots of fun taking turns at making their own slice of fairy bread. There were so many positive comments; “It was yummy!”, was said so many times.

The students enjoyed every part of the experience. “Thank you to the teachers for letting us make it” said one student.

“I loved writing the procedure about how to make the fairy bread”, “It was awesome” and “actually, it really was good fun”, were some of the other comments.

“We are always speaking to the children about the importance of being kind to all and throughout the year we celebrate days such as ‘Be Kinda Day’, ‘Fill your bucket Day’ ‘Supporting for our sister school in Bali’, ‘Crazy sock day, and Harmony Day,” said Principal Cathy Blackford.

“Fairy Bread Day is just another day to remind the children.”

In 2020, Fairy Bread Day announced its partnership with Australia’s leading online mental health service, ReachOut, raising $30.9K to help support Australia’s youth.

Continuing the partnership in 2021, Fairy Bread Day is dedicated to “Sprinkling Kindness” and hosting space for important conversations around mental health, including providing practical strategies and tools to support mental health.

Partnering with ReachOut helps connect people with others that might be going through the same thing.

Dollar Sweets pledged to donate 10 cents from every pack of Dollar Sweets 100s and 1000s sold during November 2021.
