Nature Parks thanks volunteers

Phillip Island Nature Parks recognised the dedication of hundreds of volunteers during National Volunteers Week, Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering.
A ‘Breakfast with a View’ was held on Saturday May 20 at The Nobbies Centre to celebrate more than 250 people who have volunteered over 16,000 hours with Nature Parks in the past year.
The event was attended by 40 volunteers who heard from Phillip Island Nature Parks CEO, Catherine Basterfield, Conservation Manger, Jessica McKelson, and Volunteer, Peter Wagstaff, on this year’s theme ‘The Change Makers’.

Whether propagating threatened flora at Barb Martin Bushbank, helping Turn the Tide on marine debris, assisting rangers to count koalas, monitoring shorebird nesting season or assisting with Millowl’s first Penguin Study Group, the volunteer team makes an invaluable contribution matched with hard work, commitment, and a passion for conservation.
