A new state-of-the-art dental technology is available at Latrobe Community Health Service (LCHS) and is producing dentures for Bass Coast Health.

Gippslanders in need of dentures can now enjoy faster and more comfortable treatment thanks to new state-of-the-art dental technology available at Latrobe Community Health Service (LCHS).

The new technology streamlines the process of crafting custom dentures, reducing wait times and improving the final product.

"Traditionally, creating dentures requires multiple manual steps, messy impressions and long waiting periods. With digital technology, the entire process is smoother, quicker, and more comfortable for patients," Dental Prosthetist (Digital Transformation Lead), Christine Nguyen said.

"The biggest win for patients is fewer appointments and shorter wait times. Instead of attending five or six appointments, some people now only need two or three," she added.

Since implementing the new digital technology, LCHS has produced more than 350 dentures in four months, and two-thirds of our dentures are now produced digitally.

In addition to servicing clients across our Gippsland and metro clinics, LCHS is also producing dentures for Peninsula Health and Bass Coast Health - ensuring the technology supports people in need beyond Gippsland, regardless of where they go for dental care.

"Community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many people commenting on the speed, comfort, and quality of their new dentures," Ms Nguyen said.

The technology complements a new process to streamline follow up care for clients with new dentures. The initiative allows clients to review their dentures over the phone, removing the need for in-person visits and allowing speedy follow up care from the comfort of their own homes.
