In an expertly organised and painstaking operation, the team from Gow's Mobile Cranes (Archies Creek) worked with museum staff to load the precious jet fighter cargo and get it safely installed in a storage shed.

Today a new jet fighter arrived at the National Vietnam Veterans Museum in Newhaven to join the collection.

The Sabre aircraft was transported in five pieces on two trucks from Laverton and then painstakingly craned from the trucks and moved into a storage shed.

It took over three hours to unload the plane, which will now be cleaned and restored by the museums’ dedicated group of volunteers and then eventually reassembled to be part of the exhibition in the new museum.

More details in next week’s paper.
