“Excitement and a strong sense of community were on display recently as our school hosted a special Prep Family BBQ to celebrate the newest members of our school community beginning their full-time schooling journey,” said a school spokesperson.

“The event brought together Prep students, their families and school staff for a relaxed evening of food, conversation and connection.

“As many families are new to the school, the BBQ provided a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to meet one another, build friendships, and feel part of the welcoming community that surrounds our youngest learners.”

Children proudly showed their families around the school grounds, introduced their new friends and played in the playground with their new friends.

The school senior choir who performed on the night was well received by the families.

“School staff were also on hand to meet families in an informal setting, helping strengthen the partnerships between home and school that are so important in supporting students learning and wellbeing,” the spokesperson said.

“It was a great night to connect our newest families to our Cowes Primary community.”
