New Rotary President

Well known Phillip Island identity, Peter Buitenhuis, has been elected President of Rotary Club of Phillip Island and San Remo for the 2022-23 year.

The changeover of all leadership roles was marked at a special dinner held at the Newhaven Yacht Squadron on Monday evening. 

Present at the dinner were Rotary District Governor, Bill Degnan from Traralgon, along with the Mayor of Bass Coast Shire, Michael Whelan, and Rotary members and guests.

Peter is no stranger to holding a leadership role, as he has been Commodore of Newhaven Yacht Squadron for several years.

The Rotary Club of Phillip Island and San Remo has exciting plans for the coming year and welcomes the return of several programs that have been in limbo since the pandemic.

Peter is looking forward to the year ahead.

“We have a major project in the planning stage, something we feel essential for the Island and San Remo area.”

Peter mentioned there would be a focus on youth and community in the coming year with lots more exciting events scheduled.
