New single sounds a warning

Local musician Robin Lowe has released his latest single, "Lies for War".

With the conflicts currently raging in the Middle East, the single is particularly timely.

"Lies for War addresses the issue of war and how leaders can sometimes lie and deceive to motivate their people into going to war," explained Robin.

"It highlights that people can be sent to fight against others who are most likely not too different to themselves and to question the need to 'fight die and kill'.

"Sadly, when I penned the lyrics for this song, I had no idea how relevant it would be at its release."

"Lies For War" was recorded and produced by Dave Prideaux at Sunderland Studio on Phillip Island.

"Dave is a multi-instrumentalist and was able to incorporate instruments into the recording that I couldn't," said Robin.

"Local up and coming Phillip Island musician, Esta Christensen came into the recording studio for what would be her very first recording experience and provided backing vocals."

Robin grew up in San Remo and currently lives in Kilcunda, working as an intensive care paramedic. His important work as a paramedic makes it difficult for him to tour or perform regularly, but he is frequently on stage around the local area, either with other musicians or performing his own material.

"I've been a drummer/percussionist for as long as I can remember and have played with many different bands and lineups," Robin said.

In 2019, he branched out as a singer/songwriter, releasing his first single in 2020, and during the Covid lockdowns, he taught himself to play guitar.

He's now released seven studio recorded singles, with more to come.

"I've tried to mix up the style of music I create and the subject matter but there always seems to be an 80s rock theme trying to infiltrate them," he said.
