The Phillip Island Early Learning Centre has welcomed new staff and expanded its three year old kindergarten program this year.

The three-year-old kindergarten program will now provide two groups of 15 hours of free kindergarten per week and one group of six hours.

“We are very fortunate to have Joelle, Mel, Jordan, Lani and Julie all join our team in 2023,” said centre coordinator Karen Treppo.

“We still have vacancies in our kindergarten programs so if you would like a tour you can contact the Centre on 5952 1747."

Karen said the new teachers come with extensive knowledge and experience in the early years sector with  a special interest in oral language and literacy, inclusion and play therapy.

One staff member speaks fluent French.

“The skills they bring with them compliments the expertise of our existing staff in our four year old free kindergarten program,” Karen said.

State member for Bass, Jordan Crugnale paid a visit to the three year old kindergarten group recently to see firsthand how much the children are enjoying their Best Start, Best Life Kindergarten Kit.

Each child in the program received a free kit and the resource has been a huge success with the children and families, Karen said.

“The books, puzzles, story blocks and magnets for their home-based program offer hours of learning and fun.”
