Newhaven College new playground opening and assembly

Newhaven College community gathered for the all-school Foundation Day Assembly on May 13 to celebrate the College's rich history.

Newhaven College community gathered for the all-school Foundation Day Assembly on May 13 to celebrate the College's rich history.

Phillip Island Nature Parks CEO, 1997 alum and current parent, Catherine Basterfield, addressed those assembled, reminiscing about her days at the College, when it was located on Boys Home Road campus at Newhaven, and the new College video with the song "There's a Seat Right Here for You" was launched.

After the assembly, Principal Tony Corr opened the new junior school playground, acknowledging the design of the playground, which incorporates island landmarks The Pinnacles, Rhyll Inlet and San Remo bridge.

The playground was designed by Karl Russo and Chris Greber of Orchard Design, built by the construction team Earth Design Landscapes, with the project's progress overseen by the school's Strategic Project Group.

A plaques was unveiled in honour of Geoff and Glenice Sammons, who were thanked for their generous support towards the funding of the new playground.
