To start off 2023, Newhaven College held three separate swimming carnival events.

For the first House event of the year, Years 7- 12 participated in the largest of the events at Korumburra outdoor pool.

The house spirit was strong, with lots of cheering, chanting and vibrant coloured costumes. The participation and co-operation from students and timekeeping from teachers ensured the day ran smoothly. There were no school records set on the day but there were many personal bests for students which started the year of sport off brilliantly.

Later in the week, it was time for Years 5 and 6 to get wet, converging on Wonthaggi indoor pool. The house colour dress-ups ensured everyone got into the spirit, supporting and encouraging everyone who got in the pool.

Last, but not least, the ever-enthusiastic Junior School (Years 2-4) had their go. Whether students were proficient swimmers or still learning, it was exciting to see so many students get in the water and give it their best shot while their teammates cheered them on.

These fun events will contribute to the important House tally, further motivating students to be involved. Newhaven College thanks all the helpers and teachers who supervised, encouraged and participated in the events.
