As part of the Year 12 Leadership, an Indigenous Liaison Leader role has been created.
Principal Tony Corr sees the responsibility undertaken by student leaders as an important one.
"The philosophy is that 'every student is a leader', and that all students are expected to actively uphold the five school values of excellence, empathy, honesty, respect and responsibility. College Leaders set an example for the entire College," he said.
Mr Corr said the new Indigenous Liaison Leader role was part of the school's reconciliation journey.
"At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians."
Year 12 student Lulu Lightowler is proud to take on the inaugural position.
"Being named Indigenous Liaison for Year 12 is a huge honour and is a responsibility I'm taking very seriously," Lulu said.
"It is about the school being a space where Indigenous culture is celebrated and respected by everyone. It's a huge responsibility to act as the link between our leaders, culture and the community.
"I'm committed to making sure we as a school all learn and grow together."
The assembly also acknowledged the VCE achievements of the class of 2025.
There are still some places available at the College for 2026. Contact admissions@newhavencol.vic.edu.au or call 5956 7505 for more information.
