At the end of April, Year 5 and 6 Newhaven Primary students attended camp at Sovereign Hill for three days.

Tying in with their recent Integrated Studies, students were able to extend their learning in a hands-on way.

They had opportunities to learn about the gold rush and what life was like on the gold fields.

Students also attended costumed schools and were able to consider the differences between the 1850s and now. They tried their hand at writing using inkwells as well as experiencing the strict conditions children were expected to adhere to.

A highlight of the camp was attending the stunning Aura night show, beginning with a 3D presentation and continuing on with a light and sound show. It also included the Wadawurrung Creation story and Australian Indigenous perspectives, as well as the Gold Rush and Eureka Stockade.

It was a fantastic and action-packed camp!
