
A new online tool shows women in Phillip Island experience lower rates of cancer compared to the national average, whereas local men have among the highest rates of a cancer that is found in those with a history of asbestos exposure. Last year signage warning of asbestos was erected at the end of Church Street in Cowes. The EPA said they were aware of the "legacy contamination at the site for some time" and had provided advice to Bass Coast Shire Council.
