Big shoes to fill as club seeks new President
1 min read

Not many sporting clubs can say that their President was been shortlisted for the Australian of the Year Award.

Phillip Island Boardriders Club (PIBC)'s President Hannah Eisen was shortlisted for the 2024 Australian of the Year Award, for the selfless contributions she made to her beloved club and Phillip Island community.

The award nomination stated that Hannah "consistently connects community members to each other, she actively involves younger women in the committee of PIBC, treating them with respect and valuing their opinions".

Hannah is also an Architect, Interior Designer, and Project Manager who runs her own Design and Project Management consultancy HE Consulting.

Her expertise led the PIBC clubhouse restoration and surf equipment upgrades, and created the future resources required for the next generation of committee members.

Hannah is also an advocate and open support to women who are experiencing gender-based violence, in personal and professional settings.

In the construction industry, STEM and government, she continues to coach and mentor women to pursue career paths in these historically male dominated industries.

She was the on-site project manager for construction of the Cowes Cultural Centre - the largest public building project in the history of Bass Coast Shire Council.

However, with the project completed, Hannah took up another challenge, working in project management at the Perth office of the APP Group, a major company dealing in property and infrastructure.

Before leaving in January, Hannah told the Advertiser letting go of the president role had been heart wrenching, but  that she would stay on as a long-distance president, until the club AGM.

While her shoes will be big ones to fill, come the AGM in July, PIBC will be electing a new President and Vice President for the 24/25 season, with all paid PIBC members able to apply.

The role of the President is to lead the annual planning of the club, help the committee prioritise its goals and performance, and facilitate effective management of club meetings.

If this sounds like you, PIBC encourages you to contact any of the current PIBC committee members for a confidential chat, or email contact@pibc.com.au.
