
The State Government in May announced $50.4 million in the budget to rehabilitate the Phillip Island bridge. However the government is still yet to finalise the project's timeframes, despite years of concern about whether the bridge is past its use by date. A Department of Transport (DTP) spokesperson told the Advertiser last week based on "our investigations to date, the bridge continues to be safe to use while the project delivers repairs", with onsite investigations continuing, and "major works to follow".
