
Farmers on Phillip Island have reported the driest autumn in living memory, following a year of dry conditions. The island has dodged water restrictions because it is accessing Melbourne's water storages. However some towns, including Apollo Bay, have stage three water restrictions, where gardens can be watered only on alternate days using a hand-held hose.
