September is Try Bushwalking month, where Bushwalking Victoria encourages people to be outside and walk with others.

The Bass Coast Strollers are a community-based walking group affiliated with Bushwalking Victoria, and are ready to welcome people keen to explore our fantastic area. Walks are on a Monday morning and cover eight to 10 km.

A recent outing was from Smiths Beach to Rhyll.

"It was a lovely day to be outside," a spokesperson for the group said.

"We strolled on paths and a gravel road to Oswin Roberts Reserve, then through to the boardwalk on the Rhyll Inlet side of the island, up over Conservation Hill and into Rhyll."

The Strollers have been hiking the trails and beaches for over 25 years. Participants come from all across the region (including Corinella, Cape Paterson, Phillip Island and Wonthaggi).

"No two walks are ever quite the same as the scenery and participants constantly varies.

"Our equipment is simply a day pack (with nibbles, water etc) and shoes with a good grip. There is always chatter and laughter and photo stops," the group spokesperson said.

"Want to try a walk or three with us? Why wait; let us know you are coming."

Upcoming locations are on the website www.basscoaststrollers.org
