Hello Dolly - a creative Mother’s Day celebration
1 min read

Are you searching for a special and unique activity this Mother's Day?

Artists Camille Monet and Alisoun Neville have combined their creative talents to offer a Doll Making Workshop on May 4, from 2pm until 5pm.

This heartwarming event is a way for generations to come together to craft dolls.

Describing it at a "beautiful space" which will nurture skills to pass from one generation to the next, it's a creative way to celebrate Mother's Day.

"It's an opportunity to share stories and celebrate connection," Camille and Alisoun said.

"We have tried to make the workshop affordable at $45 per person or whatever you can pay."

The workshop is open to all: Mothers and children, teenagers and parents, fathers and children, grandparents and grandchildren, friends and carers.

"This is a first for us in working together, we are genuinely excited about the theme and possibilities," the women said.

The community workshop will see participants create handcrafted dolls "in the beloved Mirka Mora style" said Alisoun, and be a chance to the share "stories, laughter, and traditions that connect and celebrate".

"More than just crafting, this workshop is about belonging - welcoming all identities and stories and enjoying the richness of diverse experiences through creativity."

The workshop will provide natural and upcycled materials to craft unique rag dolls - using a rich collection of fabrics and decorations, but you can bring special pieces of your own.

"Bring your story to life by creating a doll that reflects you - honouring identities and experiences that are often overlooked in store-bought toys," said Alisoun.

"Honour the artistry and history of handmade dolls, strengthen bonds between generations in a meaningful way, and create a cherished keepsake to take home, with the skills and confidence to make more together."
